Never 1 + 2

Danser og kunstner Georgia Kapodistria (Cypern) viser sit værk Never 1 + 2 under SWOP festivalen. Never 1 + 2 vises i foyeren og eventrummet og består af en video og en fysisk installation.

Never get permission, just do your thing and trust no one
‘Never get permission, just do your thing and trust no one’ is a project that is based on the relationship of two sisters, Georgia and Ivi, who live far away from each other, and the sharing of their sisterhood through art. Visual arts, music, dance are some of the disciplines that are used to establish and present their viewpoint on the relationship and their individual view on the world. As an additional aspect, there is a focus on the change from being a child to being a teenager. Ivi, one of the sisters, is turning 13 this year. What does this change means to her? Physically, socially, emotionally. But nevertheless how does it influence her nearest. Me for example, the older sister.

Vol. 1  We share our mother’s health

The video work ‘We share our mother’s health’ is the first part of the one-year project ‘Never get permission, just do
your thing and trust no one’. The video has been the first encounter of the sisters in connection with this project. It is a ‘manifestation’ of their sisterhood under the current conditions of their relationship. They meet to present their love-dance and give a glimpse of where they find themselves at the moment.

Vol. 2  My better half

‘My better half ’ is an installation in space and the successor of the video work ‘We share our mother’s health’. The installation functions as a portrait of Ivi. Drawings and paintings she made, since she was two years old until now in the age of twelve, outline the progress of the years and give an insight into her life. It is a portrait she creates through her art, but which her big sister, Georgia, puts together.
